AIXTRON’s new manufacturing & engineering hub in Malaysia

We are building a new greenfield manufacturing and engineering hub in Batu Kawan, Penang. The site will provide a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment for assembly & testing of our high-end systems and will contribute to engineering for the next generation of products. Operations are planned to start in 2027 with a rapid ramp-up. About the role

As Production Manager, you are responsible for the operational leadership and performance of the Production function consisting out of assembly, commissioning and qualifying during start-up, ramp-up, and ongoing operations. In close collaboration with site leadership, the role defines and implements robust production processes and ensures effective execution across assembly, testing, and validation activities.

Initially this will be a critical hands-on role, requiring a strategic mindset and ability to build a team, establish process and drive the production set up for a greenfield factory project while executing an interim production for an accelerated market ecosystem entry.

This role will ensure efficient, and quality-driven daily operations by establishing structured workflows, clear responsibilities, and standardized processes. It drives on-time delivery, cost control, and adherence to defined quality standards while continuously optimizing organizational processes, interfaces, and operational tools within the group standards.



Responsibilities

  • Partner with site leadership to define and implement the production processes and strategy for the start-up and growth phases
  • Lead, develop and implement on-time, cost-efficient, and quality-optimized production process for systems and components (assembly, testing, and qualifying)
  • Lead, motivate and develop the Production teams
  • Instruct and control company´s business processes consequently
  • Create and maintain smooth workflows within the department
  • Plan, monitor, and ensure compliance with the cost center budget
  • Responsible for the continuous optimization of organizational processes, interfaces, and tools used within the area of responsibility
  • Report and further development of departmental KPIs
  • Ensure and conduct controls within the framework of SOX / compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and guidelines for accident prevention and occupational safety

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related field
  • 8+ years of Production / Manufacturing experience, including at least 5 within the semiconductor industry
  • Strong, hands-on knowledge across production and industrial engineering
  • Deep belief and experience in Visual Management and Shop Floor routines
  • Ability to translate Shop Floor KPI to ERP/MES KPI
  • Ability to work strategically and hands-on, and to build processes from scratch.
  • High integrity and ability to lead a large team
  • Proficiency in production planning, cost management and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g Lean, Six sigma).
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and quality control processes
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa MalaysiaMandarin is an advantage.



Working Conditions

  • Role based at AIXTRON Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
  • Majority of work at the Batu Kawan site.
  • Occasional travel to Headquarters in Germany or other regional sites.
