AIXTRON’s new manufacturing & engineering hub in Malaysia

We are building a new greenfield manufacturing and engineering hub in Batu Kawan, Penang. The site will provide a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment for assembly & testing of our high-end systems and will contribute to engineering for the next generation of products. Operations are planned to start in 2027 with a rapid ramp-up. About the role

When you step into the role of Senior Electrical Development Engineer, you will be the driving force behind the electrical system architecture and power‑distribution strategy for next‑generation MOCVD platforms. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact position where you shape the backbone of complex, precision‑engineered systems. You’ll champion robust, compliant, and manufacturing‑ready designs while working shoulder‑to‑shoulder with world‑class teams in mechanical design, process engineering, automation, and advanced manufacturing to bring breakthrough technology to life.



Responsibilities

• Design and optimize main and low-voltage power distribution systems with focus on reliability, maintainability, and compliance 
• Define scalable PLC and control architectures ensuring robustness and diagnosability 
• Select and integrate sensors and actuators for complex and harsh operating conditions 
• Lead system-level architecture definition, requirements engineering, and interface management 
• Conduct structured problem solving (RCA, 8D) and risk assessments (FMEA) to prevent integration and field issues 
• Drive design for manufacturing and cost-balanced engineering decisions 
• Ensure compliance with ISO, CE, SEMI, and safety standards 
• Structure and maintain high-quality electrical documentation in E-Plan and manage changes in PLM/ERP systems 

Qualifications & Skills

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field 
• 5–10 years of professional experience in electrical development within complex systems 
• Strong expertise in power distribution, control architecture, and motion systems 
• Experience with requirements management, system architecture, and cross-functional integration 
• Proficiency in E-Plan and ERP systems such as SAP 
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in data-driven engineering decisions 
• High ownership, technical leadership capability, and intercultural collaboration skills 
• Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken) 



Working Conditions

• Role based at AIXTRON Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
• Majority of work at the Batu Kawan site.
• Occasional travel to Headquarters in Germany or other regional sites.
