AIXTRON’s new manufacturing & engineering hub in Malaysia

We are building a new greenfield manufacturing and engineering hub in Batu Kawan, Penang. The site will provide a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment for assembly & testing of our high-end systems and will contribute to engineering for the next generation of products. Operations are planned to start in 2027 with a rapid ramp-up.  About the role

As Project Manager (M4), you lead complex cross-regional programs, including product transfers from Europe to Malaysia and structured cost optimization initiatives. You ensure alignment across engineering, supply chain, quality and senior management while safeguarding timeline, budget and quality targets. 

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end product transfer projects across regions, ensuring quality, regulatory and supply chain readiness 
• Drive structured risk management (e.g. FMEA, root cause analysis, 8D) to prevent integration and field failures 
• Facilitate cross-functional trade-off decisions between mechanical and electrical disciplines 
• Own cost-down programs including supplier localization and total cost of ownership optimization 
• Ensure engineering data integrity and material master readiness in enterprise resource planning systems 
• Apply data-driven decision-making using structured analysis tools 
• Build strong stakeholder alignment across Europe and Malaysia, influencing senior leadership decisions 
• Proactively identify project risks and mobilize cross-team mitigation actions 
• Report program status, budget and milestones transparently to executive management 

Qualifications & Skills

• University degree in Engineering or related technical field 
• 5–10 years of professional experience with end-to-end ownership of complex engineering projects 
• Proven leadership in cross-continental product transfer and cost-reduction programs 
• Strong expertise in structured problem solving, risk assessment and design-to-cost principles 
• Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical system interfaces 
• Experience working with enterprise resource planning systems and engineering data analysis tools 
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior management 
• Business fluent English (written and spoken) 
• Willingness to travel internationally

Working Conditions

• Role based at AIXTRON Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
• Majority of work at the Batu Kawan site.
• Occasional travel to Headquarters in Germany or other regional sites.
