The Production department is at the centre of AIXTRON’s value chain. The work done by all other areas of the company comes to life in Production, as this is where our systems are planned, built, tested and optimised.  

 

In our Operations team, we approach the planning, design and management of production and business processes with creativity and foresight. In doing so, we make everything a little bit smarter and more efficient. This ultimately conserves resources, eliminates hazards and optimises products. And that is what drives us.

What was your career like at AIXTRON?

I began my career at AIXTRON in 2019 as a technical assistant to the Vice President of Operations. After this, I spent two years working as a production planner before taking on the role of team leader in the Order Centre. The most exciting part of working at AIXTRON, especially in Operations, is the new challenges we encounter every day and the opportunity to improve internal processes.

There are many teams in Operations, including Operations Engineering, Industrial Engineering, the Order Fulfilment department, the Production team, Facility Management and Occupational Safety.

Operations Engineering

At AIXTRON, Operations Engineering is responsible primarily for processing orders for customer systems and building prototypes. Special requirements and specifications are coordinated with colleagues from Sales. Experts from technical, mechanical engineering, electrical and software fields plan our epitaxy (EPI) systems. Our goal is to ensure high-quality, effective and economical production. We invent tomorrow’s machinery!

Production Engineering

Our team ensures that prototypes and new product lines are ready for series production. Here, we also account for aspects such as design to cost, design to assembly and design to test. Everything needed for a smooth production flow, including the production environment and logistical requirements, are thought through down to the last detail. As soon as a concept is finished, we are already looking forward to the next prototype or a new product.

Order Fulfillment

Order Fulfilment coordinates, plans and supports global orders and commissions. We know when the completed system will go into operation at the customer’s facility and ensure that this deadline is met. Accordingly, we are in constant communication with the other production departments. After successfully completing an order, we use the data we have collected for evaluation and to determine key performance indicators.

Production

At AIXTRON’s Production department, ideas are transformed into reality. Here, we monitor the assembly of our deposition systems for the semiconductor industry. We also test that machinery works properly and provide precise fine tuning. Our interdisciplinary teams of mechanics, electricians and programmers work hand in hand on the systems. Things are never monotonous with us because we are continually refining our systems and adding new production lines.

We are looking to hire a wide range of scientific and technical experts for our interdisciplinary teams: system electronics technicians, industrial mechanics, mechanical and system engineers and business and process engineers can all find interesting areas of work at our company. Most of our employees already have experience in mechanical engineering or the automotive sector. However, those moving into the industry from energy and environmental engineering, building technicians, construction managers and real estate economists also bring value to our department and so we are interested in hearing from them too.
