Mechanical Technician (f/m/d)

to start immediately, permanent position

Role Summary:

This role is based within our production environment at our UK site in Swavesey. The technician’s primary function is to support mechanical installation aspects of product manufacture and associated mechanical assemblies.

Work across a wide variety of standard and development products to include preparation and fitting of basic and complex assemblies and sub-assemblies. Working to mechanical engineering drawings and layouts and be able to handle tight deadlines. The technician may be required to support mechanical work demands at customer sites as the business needs.

Your responsibilities:

• Component / specialist sub-assembly manufacture
• Working to detailed engineering drawings
• Support of development product and components using basic machine shop equipment
• Specialist SS pipe fabrication and orbital / manual welding (training available)
• Liaising closely with the Production Supervisor and the engineering team to ensure that products are completed on time and built to the technical brief
• Proactive approach to improvements of the build process and self-validation
• Maintain the production area and equipment to ensure a safe, clean and organised environment
• National and international travel (business dependant)

Essential Skills:

• City & Guilds in a relevant field or equivalent qualification/experience would be desirable.
• Good mechanical assembly and testing background
• Good practical and technical skills
• Vacuum leak testing (preferable, but not essential)
• Understanding of engineering drawings and principles
• Orbital / hand tig welding experience (an advantage)
• Ability to work methodically and precisely 
• Ability to manage a varied workload in an efficient manner 
• Work well as part of a team 
• Have initiative and be able to take responsibility
• Good communication skills
• Computer literate with a good ability to record data

Working Conditions / Environment:

• Office/Lab based role at AIXTRON Ltd, Buckingway Business Park, Anderson Road, Swavesey, Cambridge CB24 4FQ, United Kingdom
