Role Summary:

As part of a multi-disciplined team within a modern Engineering department, this role involves the continuous improvement of the Company’s world leading products through leading-edge electronics and sensors design. The Electronics Test Engineer will be expected to design and implement effective test solutions to validate our internal designs, and to work with our senior design engineers to propose changes.  Working with our key suppliers the Electronics Test Engineer will also be responsible for PCB and product level testing and certification, ensuring that all shipped instruments achieve the required performance.

This role will engage with many aspects of the design and testing of our metrology products and consequently there will be the opportunity for the successful candidate to develop alongside the needs of the business.  At Aixtron you will benefit from a very strong work-life balance with hybrid working, a flexible working environment, as well as great development opportunities.

Your responsibilities:

• Developing and specifying test methods (in both hardware and software) to ensure accurate and reliable results are captured early on in the development cycle
• Testing of AIXTRON bespoke scientific equipment and ancillary devices 
• Testing of externally sourced sensors and metrology equipment
• Analysis and feedback of test results, including suggested design improvements
• Assisting in the development of new technologies and sensors from first principles

Your profile:

• Electronics / Engineering / Scientific degree or equivalent experience
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of electronics and PCB design
• Experience of simple programming packages and languages (e.g. C derivatives, Jscript, Python, MatLab, LabVIEW)
• Competent in system and device troubleshooting down to component level
  • Experience of device firmware programming
  • Familiar with electronics test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators etc)
  • Comfortable making PCB changes such as replacing components, soldering etc.
  • Microsoft office capable (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Accurate, thorough, consistent, pro-active, assertive
  • Good communication skills
  • Conscientious, self motivated, capable of working autonomously when required
  • Team player
