AIXTRON sells another Nitride Reactor to Thomson

AIXTRON is pleased to announce the sale of another Nitride MOCVD reactor. The latest sale goes to Thomson CSF in Paris who have ordered an AIX 200 RF reactor system for the growth of nitrides on 2" wafers. The new system will be used for research purposes within the recently commenced RAINBOW project supported by the European Commission. The aim of this project is to develop the first complete European Al-Ga-In-N materials base, culminating in a mass production technology of Ultra High Brightness Light Emitting Diodes (UHB-LED) in various colours and in the fabrication of blue laser nitride.

According to Dr. Marie-Antoinette Poisson, the AIX 200 RF is ideally suited for nitride research. "It is a well-proven reactor with which excellent results have already been repeatedly achieved", she commented.

The AIX 200 RF GaN reactor is based on the proven AIX 200 reactor chamber and serves as the industry standard in over 100 laboratories worldwide. The AIX 200 RF option is also available as a retrofit kit for all existing AIX 200 systems. All AIXTRON reactors are two flow, horizontal reactors, with high gas utilization efficiency, optional In content control system, guaranteed abrupt interfaces and proven process scaling capabilities for the transfer of processes to the larger AIX 2000/2400 HT multiwafer Planetary Reactor® for GaN.

AIXTRON offers a wide range of epitaxial systems for MOVPE, VPE and LPE from R & D- oriented systems up to large-scale Planetary Reactor® production systems for up to 95 x 2" wafers. The company has installed over 220 systems worldwide, provides an extensive service and support network for maintenance and upgrading and is represented in 18 countries. AIXTRON´s customers for nitride systems include almost all LED manufacturers worldwide, as well as renowned research institutes and universities such as the Fraunhofer Institute, ITRI/OES, HP Laboratories, Northwestern University, Technical University of Aachen and the University of Ulm.
