AIXTRON´s Market Share in Taiwan climbs to 70% with Sales of New MOCVD Planetary Reactor® Systems New orders for five AIXTRON MOCVD reactor systems in Taiwan now push the company’s market share there up to 70%. The new orders for mass production systems come from EPISTAR Corporation, Visual Photonics Epitaxy Co. (VPEC) and one of the largest optoelectronics suppliers in Taiwan. Both EPISTAR and VPEC are start-up companies which have placed multiple orders for large-scale AIXTRON reactor systems, all of which will be used for the mass production of UHB-LEDs. The recently signed contract with EPISTAR Corporation is for the delivery of multiple mass production reactor systems, including the AIX 2600G3, AIXTRON´s new fully automated system with true cassette-to-cassette wafer loading option. EPISTAR Corporation is a newly established spin-off company from ITRI-OES and is located in the Science Based Industrial Park in Hsinchu. The second contract for AIXTRON LED mass production systems comes from VPEC, which has ordered two AIXTRON mass production Planetary Reactor® systems. Dr. Bernd Schulte, Product Manager for the region, commented, „the LED market in Taiwan is one of the fastest growing in the world with huge potential for the future. These new orders indicate the strength of customer confidence in AIXTRON´s ability to deliver the right systems to meet this high demand". In a third recently signed contract, one of the 10 largest optoelectronic component suppliers in the world, based in Taiwan, has ordered an AIX 2400 mass production Planetary Reactor® system for the manufacture of visible laser diodes. These contracts again confirm the AIX 2000/2400 as the world standard production tool for optoelectronic applications. The two-flow horizontal reactor permits the handling of up to 5 x 4", 8 x 3" or 15 x 2" wafers. The reactor has a laminar flow design without turbulence for precise control of the material composition, p- and n-doping and the achievement of ultra sharp interfaces. Wafer rotation is provided by the patented Gas Foil Rotation®. The machines are manufactured according to the highest quality standards, including AIXTRON´s ISO 9001 certification, the European CE as well as high German engineering standards. AIXTRON´s newest system, the AIX 2400/2600G3, includes all the features of the existing Planetary Reactor® systems as well as some brand new features - in particular true Cassette-to-Cassette loading of wafers.
