AIXTRON´s world leadership of MOCVD equipment industry confirmed by independent research Latest independent market research figures confirm AIXTRON as the world´s leading supplier of MOCVD equipment (VLSI Research Inc., Nov. 1996). In their latest industry analysis, VLSI estimate that, with sales of almost US$ 23 mil., AIXTRON sold the most MOCVD systems worldwide in 1995. AIXTRON´s 1996 figures show further steady growth with sales for this year topping US$33 mil. - an increase of around 50% on last year. This trend looks set to continue into 1997 with booked orders already amounting to almost US$ 45 mil. The majority of new orders in 1996 were for AIXTRON´s production scale Planetary Reactor® systems the AIX 2000/2400, the AIX 3000 as well as its newly introduced, truly automated system, the AIX 2400/2600G3 - the world’s first ever MOCVD system with real cassette-to-cassette wafer-loading. Over 35 AIXTRON reactors were sold in 1996 alone, primarily for applications such as UHB-LEDs and solar cells indicating industry’s acceptance of the AIXTRON Planetary Reactor® as the most suitable tool for these applications. Customers who signed up new and repeat contracts with AIXTRON this year included companies such as Siemens, Hewlett Packard, Kopin, ITT Night Vision, TECSTAR, LG Electronics and UEC. With demand for its systems continuing to grow at an unprecedented rate, AIXTRON has doubled the size of its Customer Service Department to ensure that customers continue to receive the same high level of service. Service is available from the AIXTRON headquarters in Aachen, from its US headquarters in the US and from its Service Centers in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, China and Italy. In addition, AIXTRON this year embarked on a major building expansion plan which is due to be completed by the end of the year. The new facility will double AIXTRON´s production capacity and will secure its position as the world’s leading MOCVD equipment manufacturer for the foreseeable future.
