Marconi orders two AIXTRON production MOCVD systems

Marconi, a world leader in GaAs based laser/modulator technology as well as InP based tunable lasers has purchased from AIXTRON AG for its activities at Caswell UK, two production MOCVD Planetary Reactorsâ . Marconi will receive an AIX 2600G3 (up to 5x6") system for production of GaAs electronic and optoelectronic devices. The AIX 2600G3 is the most widely sold 5x6" epireactor for compound semiconductors. Additionally, Marconi has opted for an AIX 2000 (7x2") system for the growth of InP based laser devices. Marconi states:

"After carefully evaluating the potential of production MOCVD technology for both GaAs and InP based materials, we were convinced that the Planetary Reactorsâ are the most appropriate systems for obtaining high quality material at high yield, reproducibility and low running cost. Both MOCVD systems are scheduled for delivery in early summer 2000."
