!!! Press Release !!! AIXTRON announces sale of AIX 2400/2600G3 to Fraunhofer Institute, Freiburg The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) in Freiburg has purchased an AIX 2400/2600G3, AIXTRON´s newest MOCVD system, it has just been announced. ISE is renowned worldwide for its role in the development of photovoltaic energy and the new reactor system from AIXTRON will be used for the growth of high efficiency III-V mono and tandem solar cells. ISE will also focus on the development of new concentrator cells using the AIX 2400/2600G3. Prof. Dr. Wolfram Wettling, Head of the Department for Solar Cell Energy, commented "our choice of the AIX 2400/2600G3 was strongly influenced by the fact that this new system incorporates all the proven features of the Planetary Reactor® design as well as some brand new features including flexible wafer configurations ranging from 5x6" or 8x4" to 35x2" capacity, complete automated control of all reactor boundary conditions including reactor walls and rotation controls, in-situ cleaning as well as an impressive array of in-situ monitoring options. We believe the system is more qualified for our purposes than competitive products." The in situ monitoring options, which are available for AIXTRON´s complete line of Planetary Reactors®, include monitoring of the rotation of the satellite as well as monitoring of the temperature of the ceiling. The system can be used for the processing of III-V materials, UHB-LEDs, solar cells as well as II-VI and other material systems. AIXTRON offers a wide range of epitaxial systems for MOVPE, VPE and LPE from R & D- oriented systems up to large-scale Planetary Reactor® production systems for up to 95 x 2" wafers. The company has installed over 200 systems worldwide, provides an extensive service and support network for maintenance and upgrading and is represented in 18 countries. Among AIXTRON's list of industrial clients are names such as Alcatel, AT&T, EPI, Hewlett Packard, Honeywell, IBM, Motorola, NEC, Philips, Rockwell, Samsung, Siemens and numerous Japanese corporations. AIXTRON systems have also been installed in many of the world's most renowned research institutes including JPL-CALTEC, Sandia Nat. Lab., Fraunhofer Institute, CNET and CNRS. AIXTRON is very active in advancing MOCVD technology through collaborations and joint R & D projects with major partners worldwide. For further information please contact:
