FOCUS INVESTOR RELATIONS AWARD GOES TO AIXTRON AGAIN

Aachen, April 23, 2002 - AIXTRON is pleased to announce that its investor relations activities have once again been awarded the Focus Investor Relations Award 2002 by the business magazine Focus/Focus Money. AIXTRON took first place in the Neuer Markt segment. This decision was reached on the basis of a survey of over 700 institutional capital market participants - analysts and fund managers - from Germany, Switzerland, Luxemburg and Austria as to which Neuer Markt public companies are the most open and fair providers of information.

The key elements in AIXTRON's investor relations activities are a focus on providing an optimum service for investors and reliable forecasts. Investors respect this: this is the third time since 1999 that AIXTRON has received the Focus Investor Relations Award. The award was presented to Kim Schindelhauer of AIXTRON's Executive Board and Dr. Claus Ehrenbeck, Head of IR, at a ceremony yesterday evening during the DIRK (Deutscher Investor Relations Kreis e.V.) 5th Annual Meeting.
