AIXTRON´s revenues climb sharply with promising forecast for 1998 The high-tech company, AIXTRON AG, has exceeded its turnover and profit targets for last year according to preliminary results. Turnover for the fourth quarter reached 27 mil. DM - around 35% of the estimated total annual turnover for 1997 of 76 mil. DM. This represents a growth of about 60% on 1996. Kim Schindelhauer of the Executive Board commented that the fourth quarter always shows the strongest turnover. Double digit increases in profit compared to 1996 were achieved, the Executive Board reported on 12. January 1998.The budget plans for 1998, which have been approved by the Executive and Supervisory Boards, forecast a 30% increase in turnover and profit for 1998. This means that turnover will reach the 100 mil. DM point for the first time. The Executive Board expressed strong confidence in the ability to achieve this goal, as, at the beginning of 1998, the company has a record 60 mil. DM in confirmed orders. The current order level is therefore already at 80% of last years total orders. AIXTRON´s markets, especially in the telecommunications and optoelectronic sectors are booming and, according to the Executive Board, recent events in the financial markets in Asia will have no direct negative effects on AIXTRON AG´s overall order situation. In the near future, further large orders are expected in the areas of chip assembly for mobile telephones, solar cell manufacturing for communications satellites, LED displays and DVD laser technology.
