AIX 2400 G3 GaAs Production Tool chosen by Sigm Plus, Moscow

Russian III-V community relies on AIXTRON MOCVD tools

Aachen/Moscow, Russia, May 19 2003 – Moscow based Sigm Plus Co. Ltd. has recently chosen an AIX 2400G3 MOCVD Reactor for growth of GaAs based materials for opto-electronic applications such as laser and LEDs. This is already the fourth AIXTRON system to be installed in Russia, underlining AIXTRON’s strength as the leading supplier of MOCVD systems for the Russian and Eastern European market.

Michael Kovalenko, General Director of Sigm Plus comments: "We have been observing the domestic market for some time now and our experience has shown us that by using AIXTRON’s 15x2" high throughput production system, we will now be able to ramp-up Gallium-Arsenide production, at an efficient operating cost level and with the strong back-up in service and process support that we need. These were key factors in driving our final purchase decision." Dr. Rainer Beccard, Head of Sales & Marketing, Compound Semiconductor Equipment, adds "As Sigm Plus is well-known for many years now, we are happy that they have chosen our advanced technology. We are confident that Sigm Plus represents a very positive trend taking place in Russia at this time, to opt for AIXTRON, the price-performance leader in epitaxial CVD equipment and we welcome further co-operations with this forward moving company."

Other Russian customers also convinced by AIXTRON’s leading technology include the Federal Nuclear Center (RFNC-VNIITF) located in Chelyabinsk, who chose an AIX 2400G3 HT for the manufacture of nitride based ultra-high brightness blue light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for use in the opto-electronics industry and the IOFFE-Technical Institute, located in St. Petersburg, who has purchased both an AIX 2000 HT for GaN applications and an AIX 200 System for growing highest quality quantum well structures for advanced research purposes.

AIXTRON’s customized MOCVD systems are the key technology enabling development and manufacture of compound semiconductors and many other multi-component materials. The many advantages of the AIXTRON Planetary Reactors include user-friendly operation, excellent process stability as well as very high precursor efficiencies and world best uniformities. Together with excellent reliability and high throughput, all these properties lead to a valuable device yield and a high uptime.

AIXTRON is, as verified by VLSI Research Inc., the world leading supplier of equipment for semiconductor epitaxy. Its equipment is used by a diverse range of customers worldwide to manufacture critical, advanced components such as HBTs, PHEMTs, MESFETs, Lasers, LEDs, Detectors and VCSELs used in fibre optic communications systems, wireless and mobile telephony applications, optical storage devices, illumination, signaling and lighting, as well as a range of other leading edge technologies. AIXTRON AG (FSE: AIX ISIN DE0005066203) is listed in the Prime Standard and Tec_DAX of the German stock exchange (Deutsche Börse) and is included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World and the MSCI World Index.
