Today, the first MOVPE equipment has passed Acceptance in the world's largest and most modern Fab for MOCVD equipment, at AIXTRON in Germany. It is shipped to IQE/EPI, UK. This machine, an AIX 2600G3, will be used for the growth of 5x6" p-HEMT and HBT wafers.

The AIXTRON Fab was inaugurated in March 2000. It increases AIXTRON's maximum annual output capacity up to 300 MOCVD systems with a high aspect cleanroom, in which 52 machines can be assembled, tested and qualified in parallel.

On its third Annual General Meeting, AIXTRON has again raised its forecast for Y2000. Revenues are now expected up to EUR 130 mil (+53% yoy) which results in income before tax of EUR 27.2 mil (+53% yoy) and net income before good will amortization of EUR 16.1 mil (+44% yoy).

The AIXTRON MOCVD machines are being used worldwide for R&D, small and large scale production by customers like Agilent/LumiLeds (subsidiary of Hewlett Packard), Alcatel, Anritsu, AXT, Epistar, Epitronics, EPSON, IQE (EPI), Honeywell, JDS-Uniphase, ITT, Kopin, Lucent, Mitsubishi Electric, Motorola, NEC, Nortel, Osram, Samsung, Showa Denko, Sumitomo Electric, Thomson, UEC, VPEC and numerous Japanese corporations. AIXTRON systems have also been installed in most renowned research institutes worldwide including JPL, Sandia Nat. Lab., Fraunhofer Institute, ITRI-OES, CNRS. AIXTRON is very active in advancing MOCVD technology through collaborations and joint R&D projects with major partners worldwide.
