!!! Press Release !!! AIXTRON AG secures exclusive
license for OLED manufacturing equipment from Universal Display Corporation
(UDC), US. AIXTRON AG, Germany, and Universal Display Corporation (UDC) of Princeton NJ, a leading developer of flat panel display technology, have entered into an exclusive development and license agreement to develop and fabricate OLED (organic light emitting device) production equipment based on an innovative low cost, precise, high throughput process called OVPD (organic vapor phase deposition). Universal Display Corporation (UDC) holds the rights for a number of patents for organic light emitting devices (OLEDs) including the OVPD production technology. AIXTRON AG receives a worldwide, exclusive license for the OVPD related patents. AIXTRON and UDC will develop the OLED production equipment together which will be sold exclusively by AIXTRON. Plans to install a demonstration pre-production system next year at the UDC facility are underway. The partnership between AIXTRON
and UDC is designed to provide the next generation of OLED fabrication
equipment and processes that proved to have the potential for higher resolution
displays due to smaller pixel size compared to other OLED technology and
can dramatically reduce the cost of producing OLED displays: AIXTRON AG offers a wide range
of CVD and epitaxial equipment for multicomponent materials like compound
semiconductors, dielectrics and ferroelectrics. The production equipment
scales to 20x4" or 9x6" batch processes, or 8"/300 mm bridge tools, of
which a variant will be developed for OVPD. AIXTRON has installed over
350 systems worldwide and is represented in over 15 countries, providing
an extensive service and support network. AIXTRON equipment is being used
in manufacturing of LED and optoelectronic components by customers like
Agilent/LumiLeds (subs. H-P), Alcatel, Anritsu, Epistar, Epson, JDS-Uniphase,
Lucent, Mitsubishi Electric, NEC, Nortel, OSRAM, Samsung, ShowaDenko,
Sumitomo, Thomson, UEC, VPEC, and many renowned research institutes and
Universities worldwide. For further information please contact:
