AIXTRON - Official inauguration of new production facilities in Herzogenrath
Launching of next expansion phase

The new equipment production facility of AIXTRON AG, the global market and technology leader in MOCVD equipment for the production of compound semiconductors, is today passing its official inauguration. Phase I of its new, additional production facilities in Herzogenrath by Wolfgang Clement, the premier of Nordrhein-Westfalen. Phase I of this new fab (with a total capacity of 300 machines per year) was finished and commissioned on schedule during the first quarter of 2000. Since then, production has been gradually transferred to this new plant and the first MOCVD systems were already shipped. On this occasion AIXTRON also announced today the lauch of its next expansion phase for construction (Phase II). 
AIXTRON's new plant is currently the world's largest and most modern production facility for MOCVD. Phase I and II together will result in a ten-fold increase in existing production capacity. AIXTRON will further optimize its production workflows in the new plant and will substantially reduce its delivery times thanks to a new logistics concept.
